Square Enix has revealed new details about Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. It turned out that another cult character, known from the classic role-playing game, will be unplayable in this part.
In Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, you cannot control Vincent, who was an optional character in the classic Final Fantasy 7 (he could not be included in the team at all). It has been revealed that the new game will also not feature the ability to control Cid Higwind, the charismatic pilot and former Shinra engineer who was one of the most important characters in Final Fantasy 7.
Both Vincent and Cid Higwind will be “companion characters” in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and function in a limited formula like Red XIII in Final Fantasy Remake. But you can control Red XIII, Yuffie and Cait Sith.
As for Zack Fair, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will have a special episode where you can control the character.
Yoshinori Kitase stated:
“At the end of Final Fantasy 7 Remake we saw that Zack was back. This in itself is a departure from the original game’s storyline. At Rebirth we’ll take it a step further and offer a special episode with Zack. At the moment I can’t say more. I’d like players to experience the adventure for themselves after release.”
