Books – Marwan Al-Tayeb:
The Writers Guild of America reached an almost final agreement to end disputes between it and Hollywood production companies after a strike that lasted several months, demanding fair wages and equality among workers in the union.
The Writers Guild of America revealed in a report to The Hollywood Reporter a letter sent to those responsible for the strike, which said: “We have reached a preliminary agreement and it will represent an agreement in principle on all the points on which we disagreed during the coming period, and we can say with pride that this deal Exceptional with many privileges and protection for writers in all sectors.”
The Hollywood Reporter website report stated that the parties reached a temporary agreement lasting three years, and it will be ratified by members of the Writers Guild of America after the studios responded to the union’s requests at the last minute.
In its message to the members, the union negotiating committee asked for patience in revealing the details of the deal, which will be announced within the next few hours. The most important thing now is for the union workers to ensure that everything that was agreed upon has been recorded in the final contract for the deal.
The deal will go first to the association’s negotiating committee for a vote, then to the WGA West Board of Directors and the WGA East Board for approval; Both referendums are tentatively scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, and the bargaining committee said that if these leaders agree, the board and council will also vote on whether to end the strike at a specific date and time to be determined pending ratification.
Many of the most prominent Hollywood stars recently participated in the Hollywood Writers Guild strike, most notably the Australian star, Margot Robbie, the British star, Daniel Radcliffe, the star Bryan Cranston, along with the team of the biographical film “Oppenheimer” and the team of the superhero film “Deadpool 3,” who announced… About stopping filming and joining the strike.
The Hollywood Actors Guild strike is not new, but has been going on since last May. Nearly 160,000 people are participating in it, including writers, broadcasters, journalists, and broadcasters. A large number of actors have recently joined them in an attempt by everyone to improve wages and equality among workers in the union, in addition to their attempt to repel some companies. Which is trying to use artificial intelligence in exchange for laying off many workers during the coming period, which has angered thousands, demanding that they be empowered with their rights.”
