Once upon a time, Paulette (Bernadette Lafont) ran a thriving restaurant with her husband. But then business went worse, the two had to give up operations. The man died and now Paulette lives lonely and in poor conditions in a prefabricated building in the Parisian banlieue. There is now a Chinese restaurant in the rooms of their former bar. That fits exactly into the world view of the 80-year-olds, because for them the foreigners are to blame for everything anyway. She ventures her bitterness at every opportunity.
