Filming of the TV series “Full mailbox” took place in Jurmala, in the former Ķemeri post office. “This building was chosen for filming due to visual considerations – there is no more beautiful post office in Latvia,” is the sure director of the series, Una Rozenbaum.
The series was filmed in 10 days, but in general the project has been in the making for about a year. Since, canceling Covid-19 limitations, the previous theatrical season was a bit longer than usual, the sequential filming proved difficult, but everything worked out perfectly.
In this series, Unas Rosenbaum’s associates are cameraman Jānis Eglītis, artist Kristīne Abika, costume designer Marta Treine, make-up artist Dzintra Bijubena, scenario consultant Ivo Briedis. Actors – Baiba Broka, Jānis Skutelis, Anta Aizupe, Imants Strads, Āirts Krūmiņš, Marija Luīze Meļķe, Toms Treinis, Matīss Ozols and others.
Una Rosenbaum says – in order to get a good result, it is important to choose the best of the best, the ones with which the idea of the beautiful and the funny coincides the most. A good ability to improvise is also important.
“The actors stuck to the text quite precisely, but in some places they adapted to the situation or how the dialogue sounds better,” reveals the director, whose favorite episodes in the series are the badminton game, the activity in the post office and the meeting of rival post offices in the parking lot.
At the center of the events is the forty-year-old Ādams Rieksts (Jānis Skutelis), who was just a popular personality on one of Riga’s radio stations, but after a live broadcast conflict with a listener from the province, he can no longer continue his work. In a rush of emotions, he leaves Riga, and after a few hours he is a post office employee in a village.
His irrepressible spark of joy and ability to find a common language with anyone very quickly made him the host of the radio morning program with the highest ratings in the country. How will he fare at the provincial post office? One thing is clear – a new era is beginning both in his life and in the history of the village.
