“Fati” is so far the only series in which the actors speak Latvian. Last year it was filmed in Southern Latgale, this year the northern part of the region – the surroundings of Kārsava – was chosen. The cast and technical staff have also changed, but the main characters are the same – teachers Vitaļs i Pīters and his wife.
“Everyone probably remembers “Anneiti” from the first time she saw her husband a little bit. I mean, nothing has been lost from that, and she has thrown herself into the adventure of sawing her new husband,” says the actress of the main role, Kristine Weinstein.
About 20 people work in the creative team: locals and from Riga, all experts in their work. For the director Edward Mikals, this is the first series under his leadership, the experienced actors also face challenges.

“I think that I will ask for a higher fee these days, because I suddenly became a stuntman. I had to jump into a pond from a height of five meters, then I had to jump through a window, then I was pushed out of an almost moving car,” Māris Korsiets, the actor of the main role, recalls his adventures .
“Thank God, nothing broke, broke, nobody got hurt and so on. We still try to protect each other a little bit, even if we also do, as Maris said, some stunt tricks. There are experienced television operators and a lighting team who have also worked in non-television projects, and this helps me a lot,” says director Mikals.
This time, the series will also include mass views. They were created in the Kārsava House of Culture, simulating prom and disco scenes.

“I work in the Emergency Service and this is like an adventure for me, because I like adventures, something new. To challenge myself,” says Zane from Balviem, a participant of mass viewing.
Unlike the first season of the series, the second season of the Latgalian lifestyle will be depicted not only with humor, but also in a more serious light.
“Some kind of mix between a mystery, a lot, a lot of comedy, comic acting and also maybe a little romance and detective, there are also such lines and moods,” says Mikals.
“Many, as they say, “Chiuleans” have watched and say that it’s a bit difficult to understand from the beginning, maybe you have to learn the language for the first few minutes, then it’s easy to watch. I think you can watch here from small to large, there will also be a few llama words, of course,” laughs Corsiets.
The series will have four episodes in total and will be shown on Latvian Television at the end of the year, as well as in cinemas and cultural centers throughout Latgale in the format of a single film. The total budget of the series is around 80,000 euros.
