“It was as if time was turning around and we were back to the beginning.”
Filming of “One Hundred Years of Solitude” by Gabriel García Márquez on Netflix on December 11
The literary prototype is not only a story about the culture and past of Colombia, but also a source of inspiration for subsequent generations of writers. The plot will lead viewers through the meanders of topics such as loneliness, love, fate and the repetition of history, and the complex characters reflect the multidimensionality of human nature.
Directed by Laura More and Alexa García López serial “One Hundred Years of Solitude” constitutes one of the most ambitious audiovisual projects in the history of Latin America. It was shot entirely in Colombia, with the support of the Nobel Prize winner’s family.
– Working on a project as complex and burdened with such great responsibility as “One Hundred Years of Solitude” was an honor and a huge test. When creating the series, we tried to understand the difference between literary and audiovisual language and be able to create images that contain the beauty, poetry and depth of a work that has influenced the entire world. We did it with love and respect for the novel, with the support of an exceptional team
– says Laura Mora, one of the production’s directors.
– Directing this project was both a challenge and an adventure. After all, in life, taking risks is necessary to give meaning to what we do. When working on the adaptation of “One Hundred Years of Solitude”, my goal was to create something authentic that would be an international production, because this story deserves it.
– he adds second director Alex García López.
About the series “One Hundred Years of Solitude”:
Series description:
Cousins José Arcadio Buendía and Úrsula Iguarán, who got married against their parents’ will, leave their village and set off on a long journey in search of a new home. Accompanied by friends, their journey ends at the rocky bank of the river, where they found a utopian settlement called Macondo.
