The 2022 NDR Young Talent Award at the Hamburg Film Festival goes to France: director Emmanuelle Nicot received the award for her film “Dalva”. Since 2012, the NDR has been awarding the Newcomer Award, which is endowed with 5,000 euros, to directors who present their first feature film or their second directing work there. The award was presented on Saturday evening, 8 October, at the closing event of the Hamburg Film Festival. At the Hamburg Film Festival, NDR also received the Hamburg Producer’s Prize for German TV Productions 2022 / serial format for the documentary series “Reeperbahn Spezialeinheit FD65”, which he co-produced.

Director NDR Joachim Knuth: “High-quality cinematic films provide space for social discourse. With the NDR Young Talent Award, we want to support young artists and encourage them to continue producing high-quality films in the future. I am delighted that many of the productions shown at the also the film festival has a place in our programs. The fact that the NDR co-production ‘Reeperbahn Spezialeinheit FD65’ also received a Hamburg Producer Award for German TV Productions proves once again that good television thrives on good films too . Congratulations to the winning teams! “

Emmanuelle Nicot, born in France in 1985, has made several short films that have been screened in more than 60 festivals around the world. “Dalva” is her first feature film, also screened this year at the Semaine de la Critique in Cannes. In her impressive film debut, Emmanuelle Nicot explores the effects of abuse with great sensitivity and emotional impact.

The jury’s statement reads: “We were deeply impressed in following the path of 12-year-old Dalva, as she tries to become a child after severe abuse. Emmanuelle Nicot tells this story with emotional acuity and psychologically precise, never to expose a character. closeness, distance and respect that Emmanuelle Nicot maintains for each individual character gives the viewer the opportunity again and again to be involved like a satellite in a very moving and demanding subject. Almost like a documentary, we follow the emotional life of the same engaging Zelda Samson in the title role, as well as the rest of the great cast. The director of photography (Caroline Guimbal) and the costume designer (Constance Allain), with their keen and loving eye for detail, are also part of this great cinematic film. “.

As part of the Hamburg Film Festival, the producers of the NDR co-production “Reeperbahn Spezialeinheit FD65 – Hamburg’s fight against organized crime” also received the Hamburg Producers’ Prize for German TV Productions 2022 / serial formats. The special prize, worth € 10,000, was awarded on Friday evening, 7 October.
