Four young people confessed to the fires in Klagenfurt in August.
Last August there were three fires in three weeks, and the search for the arsonist has now come to an end. Four young people have been identified as suspects.

Last August there were three fires in the area of Pulverturmstrasse in Klagenfurt. The first two fires involved garden sheds, the third fire involved an empty commercial building. Now four young people aged between 14 and 18 have been tracked down by the criminal investigation department of the SPK Klagenfurt with the support of the Pischeldorfer Strasse police station after checking several clues and evaluating information.
Acts were filmed
During the interrogations, the young people admitted to having started the fires by introducing an open flame, in particular by lighting hay stored in the objects using a lighter, according to the Police report from the Carinthian State Police Directorate. The individual acts were filmed with a mobile phone video camera and shared via a Snapchat group.
Out of coolness and boredom?
The motive was probably boredom and coolness, although the young people were obviously not aware of the possible extent of the fires when they committed the crime, informs the State Police Directorate The young people who have not been noticed up to now will be referred to the police in accordance with their respective responsibilities. Public Prosecutor’s Office Klagenfurt reported, according to the State Police Directorate concluded. The extent of the damage caused is not yet known.
