Film Set Weapons Expert Jailed for Fatal Shooting Incident During Rust Filming: Latest Updates

American cinematographer rust, who was responsible for the weapons on the film set, was sentenced to a year and a half in prison. She gave birth already last month was found guilty of homicides as a result of the fatal shooting incident during the filming of 2021.

During a rehearsal on the set, actor Alec Baldwin fired a shot that hit 42-year-old camerawoman Halyna Hutchins, killing her. Director Joel Souza was injured.

Weapons expert Hannah Gutierrez-Reed was in charge of the weapons. She replaced the revolver that Baldwin would shoot with real bullets instead of using ammunition. She didn’t know there were real bullets in the ammunition box.

She brought the actual patterns from her home in California. According to the complaint, there was no intention, but Gutierrez-Reed did not follow the protocols involved in the set. She received the maximum prison sentence. In her decision, the judge called it a “very serious crime” and accused Gutierrez-Reed of not taking responsibility for her actions.

Lawyers for the military expert pointed to her very young age at the time of the filming – Gutierrez-Reed was 24 – and the “terrible impact” the conviction will have on the rest of her life. They asked the judge to suspend the prison sentence.

The prosecutor pushed for the maximum sentence because of Gutierrez-Reed’s “irresponsible behavior” on set. Additionally, she is said to have shown little remorse during the trial. The judge agreed to this request.

The fact that Gutierrez-Reed has been found guilty is seen as good news for Baldwin, who is tell for murder. His lawyers can now argue that the actor could not have known that there were real bullets in the revolver. The trial against 65-year-old Baldwin is expected to begin this summer.
