Film Producer Arrested for Extorting Rs 27 Lakh from Young Actress for Promised Heroine Role

Kochi – Police have arrested a film producer who extorted Rs 27 lakh from a young actress by promising to make her the heroine in the film. M.K., a native of Malappuram Keezhuparamp. Shakir (46) was arrested by the Palarivattam police.

She took money as a loan saying that she would be the heroine in a Tamil film and then did not pay it back. Police say about the incident: The accused, a film producer, had decided to make a Tamil film ‘Ravanasuran’ with a young actress from Thrikakkara as the heroine. A few days after the shooting of the film started, he made the young woman believe that there will be financial difficulties and due to this the shooting will be stopped.

The young woman gave him 27 lakh rupees in several installments, writing an agreement that she would return it within 4 months so that the shooting would not be interrupted. Later they were dropped from the film. When he asked for the money back, he initially gave 4 checks but returned without money.

When the shooting did not start and the contract expired, the young woman was constantly threatened over the phone and sent sexually suggestive messages.
