The Carnival of Barranquilla through the Secretariat of Culture of the district of Barranquilla and the Barranquilla company Royal Films in this 2021 joined forces so that in the cinemas of the city the stories of the manifestations of makers of the city are told in short audiovisual productions carnival and the people who star in it through their dances and traditions.

The beginning of these screenings were this Friday, February 5, where the audiovisual work was seen with the winners of ‘Life and Work’, and ‘Contribution to Tradition’, from the Portfolio of Stimuli of Carnival 2021, Luisa Elvia Orozco Solano, founder of the Bolivarian Paloteo Dance, and the Congo Grande Dance of Barranquilla, directed by Adolfo Maury Cabrera. This is the start of several productions that will be seen before the airing of the films in Royal Films theaters.

For the Secretary of Culture and Heritage, María Teresa Fernández, said: “The circumstances that we live in this 2021 drive the search for new scenarios and platforms to meet tradition, and above all to learn from it and transmit it to new generations, because that’s what keeps our heritage alive.

That is why today we come here to this movie theater, to see on a giant screen two great demonstrations that deserve all our recognition: the dance of the Congo Grande de Barranquilla for its 145 years of presence in our party, and Luisa Orozco, for its dedication to the Carnival through the dance of the Suroriental Bolivarian Paloteo ”.
