(DD | Symbolbild) The cinemas in North Rhine-Westphalia receive further financial help to survive the corona pandemic. This is good news for the Cologne cinemas too. The state government intends to provide a total of around 15 million euros.
The cinemas can apply for support as part of the “Film ab NRW” aid program with immediate effect. For Cologne cinema operators such as Claudia Hebbel from the Cineplex / Filmpalast, this is a ray of hope – but there are still a few things to clarify before the money finally arrives at the cinemas :
“It is unclear whether we fall under it and do, do and have what the country wants. Then there are also various funding criteria, such as how many canvases you have, and accordingly you get more or less money. ”
It is now particularly important for the operator to have a clear perspective of when they can open again. All Cologne cinemas have been closed again since November. Holger Pfaff, managing director of Cinedom, also wants to apply for the new funding from the state: The cinema could still survive the lockdown – but the reserves are slowly all being used up.
