Ludwigshafen – The Festival of German Films in Ludwigshafen is showing 74 films this year in cinema tents and in the open air on an island in the Rhine. “I’m happy to finally be celebrating the art of film with people again,” said Artistic Director Michael Kötz on Monday when the program was announced. The 17th edition of the festival from September 1st to 19th opens the comedy “Endlich Witwer – Forever Young” by director Anca Miruna Lăzărescu. This year, Claudia Michelsen and Ulrich Matthes received the award for the art of acting. The award ceremony is on September 4th and 10th respectively.
17 films have been nominated for this year’s Film Art Prize, 56 films compete for the “Rheingold Audience Award”. The film show on an island on the Rhine, launched in 2005, is an important industry get-together and, with around 120,000 guests annually, it is the most popular German film festival after the Berlinale.
