Film fanatic raises awareness: Asperger’s syndrome drives man to set Guinness World Record

The film fanatic, who suffers from Asperger’s syndrome, was motivated to watch as many films as possible because he did it for these two causes.

Pennsylvania man Zach Swope saw 777 films in theaters last year to raise awareness for autism and suicide prevention, setting a Guinness World Record.

Record with a deeper reason

The film fanatic, who suffers from Asperger’s syndrome, was motivated to watch as many films as possible because he did it for these two causes.

“I am a suicide survivor and have lost people I care about to suicide,” Swope said. “This has been an incredible journey to which I have dedicated a year of my life, all for a good cause.” Swope watched about three movies during the week since he worked his full-time job early in the day. The weekends were all-day activities.

The most-watched movie Swope saw during the year was “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish,” which he watched 47 times.
