Film awards for the Centrale cinema in Rottweil and the Subiaco in Schramberg

ROTTWEIL / SCHRAMBERG – In a celebratory gala with around 200 invited guests on 8 November, the Baden-Württemberg Cinema Awards were awarded for the 24th time to club operators in Baden-Württemberg for a high-quality annual program. Among the winners also the Central-Kino of Rottweil and the Subiaco of Schramberg, awarded for the excellent annual program.

As in the previous two years, the state government and MFG Filmförderung increased the prize money to a total of around one million euros to support the film landscape of Baden-Württemberg, which is still suffering from the aftermath of the pandemic. The seven-person expert jury nominated by the MFG awarded film prizes to a total of 55 cinemas in Baden-Württemberg for their 2021 annual programs. The first prize for an outstanding 2021 annual film program is the cinema in the Waldhorn in Rottenburg am Neckar in the Tübingen district of Elmar Bux.

The film award certificates were presented to the film operators of the Musikhalle Ludwigsburg by the managing director of MFG Carl Bergengruen and the secretary of state at the Ministry of Science, Research and Art, Arne Braun.

MFG CEO Carl Bergengruen: “Corona has hit cinemas hard and the crisis is not over yet. However, cinemas always manage to captivate their audiences with extraordinarily diverse and attractive film programs that go beyond expectations. We honor these. programs out of conviction and with great respect “.

Secretary of State Arne Braun: “Film culture is a precious commodity, it has shaped our understanding of art and culture for many years. This would be completely unthinkable without Baden-Württemberg’s rich, high-quality film landscape. Year after year, cinema operators ensure a sophisticated yet popular program in their homes, away from Netflix and the couch. We want and must preserve it. This winter will require a lot from everyone, but we will fight together for culture and cinema. Together with the media and cinema company MFG, we have raised the film awards to a total of around one million euros and thus honor the great commitment of film fans. “

The annual Baden-Württemberg Cinema Awards are intended to be an incentive for cinema operators in Baden-Württemberg to preserve the cinematic cultural heritage and continually target new audiences with an artistically valuable program. In addition to financing through investment grants, the MGF supplements its financing work for commercial cinemas in Baden-Württemberg with these bonuses.

In addition to MFG CEO Carl Bergengruen, the expert jury included media scientist Prof. Dr. Susanne Marschall of the University of Tübingen, Franziska Heller, Helga Reichert, Thomas Bastian, Herbert Spaich and Dieter Krauß.
