With twelve nominations, the NDR co-production “Lieber Thomas” by Andreas Kleinert was the clear favorite in the race for the German Film Prize, which was awarded on Friday evening in Berlin – for the first time under the direction of the new Film Academy Presidents Alexandra Maria Lara and Florian Gallenberger and with the new Minister of State for Culture, Claudia Roth. From the point of view of the Norddeutscher Rundfunk, there was reason to be happy: two cinema co-productions were the winners.

The NDR co-production “Lieber Thomas” by Andreas Kleinert was awarded nine Lolas at the gala in Berlin, including best film, best director, best screenplay and the two actors Albrecht Schuch as best actor and Jella Haase as best supporting actress.
“My nerves are gone. It was very exhausting, you have such an approach path and now you can’t feel anything anymore. Everything was so gone.” This is how Jella Haase sums up this march through the black-and-white film about the GDR poet Thomas Brasch.

An outstanding Albrecht Schuch plays the leading role. “I’m doing very well, I’m very overwhelmed, I can’t put it any other way,” said the actor. “I would have liked to hug Thomas Brasch, I do it internally and I’m totally happy.”

Three Lolas for Dresen’s “Rabiye Kurnaz vs. George W. Bush”
She has three prizes NDR cinema co-production “Rabyje Kurnaz against George W. As the Bremen lawyer Docke, he plays with restraint and with an amazing resemblance to the original.
For director Dresen, the silver Lola for “Rabiye Kurnaz vs. George W. Bush” was above all a sign: “I’m just happy that such a political film has received an award here. There is also a message behind it, not to be defeated, even in difficult times, and that he took second place in such an ensemble of really good films here, I’m really happy about it.”
