The film foundation-funded production starts on October 10th “The book walker“ von Ngo The Chau on loan from Studiocanal in German cinemas. The script was written by a Grimme Prize winner Andy Rogenhagen based on the bestseller of the same name Carsten Henn. In front of the camera were, among others: Christoph Maria Herbst, Yuna Bennett, Ronald Zehrfeld and Edin Hasanovic.

Day after day, Carl Kollhoff stands in the back room of a bookstore and carefully wraps books in paper to deliver them to regular customers in the city. Books are the greatest joy of the taciturn older man who otherwise avoids any contact with other people. On one of his tours, nine-year-old Shascha follows him. Carl reluctantly gets involved with the girl, who from then on accompanies him on his errands and calls him the “book walker”. Schascha quickly wins the hearts of Carl’s regular customers and not only shakes up their lives, but also causes Carl to break out of his own world.
The drama was created by desert movie, Desert Film West in co-production with Studiocanal, ARD Degeto and Gretchenfilm produced. The Film and Media Foundation NRW supported the production, the script and the distribution with a total of 1,070,000 euros.
