Directed by Thomas Stuber (“In the Corridors”) and based on a screenplay by Gotthard Dome have started shooting the film production “The frog and the water” has begun. Further parts of the filming are planned in Weimar, Cologne and Bern (Switzerland) as well as in Tokyo (Japan).

There is no room for adventure in Stefan Busch’s everyday life in a supervised shared apartment. But his life takes a fateful turn during a group trip: Without hesitation, the young man, known to everyone as Buschi, joins a Japanese tour group. The cautious friendship between Buschi and Hideo Kitamura begins on this special road trip. Buschi, who has refused to communicate with his fellow human beings through language his entire life, blossoms in this foreign environment.
As Stefan Busch, known as Buschi, the Bremen actor Aladdin Detlefsen (“Blaumeier Atelier”) for the first time in a leading role in front of the camera. Kanji: Tsuda (“Onoda – 10,000 Nights in the Jungle”) plays his travel companion Mr. Kitamura. Other roles include Bettina Stucky, Captain Meltem, Yuki Iwamoto, Cornelius Schwalm etc. can be seen.
The film is a German-Swiss co-production of the Cologne Pandora Film Production with Gretchenfilm and the Swiss Hugofilm Features with Lomotionin coproduction with the ZDF and ART and in cooperation with Neopol Film and Hassaku LabsThe film is supported by funds from Film and Media Foundation NRWthe Central German Media Fund, the German Federal Film Fund, Hessen Film and Media, Nordmedia, FFA, BKM and in Switzerland with funds from the Federal Office of Culture, the Bern Film Fund and the Swiss Film Fund (FiSS). Pandora Film Distribution will bring the film to German cinemas in 2025. World distribution is handled by The Match Factory taken over.
