Film and book presentation with Reinhold Engberding … there without pants …

In Buch and Film deals in different ways with new works by our member, the sculptor Reinhold Engberding. The art historian Monika Wagner will be holding a conversation with Reinhold Engberding under the title “Material stories from the tailor’s studio”. The academy colleague Hildegard Schmahl will feature texts by Engberding’s literary alter ego Holger B. Nidden-Grien read.

In the main text of the Book Monika Wagner discusses textile manufacturing techniques used by Engberding and other artists. Instead of a foreword, there is an excerpt from Green Henry by Gottfried Keller and poems by Holger B. Nidden-Grien, which in turn are accompanied by a text by Nora Sdun These poems, written around 10 years ago, deal with the subject of death in a very unique way. Sdun then recommends them as “with a thoroughly juicy vegetative content, not at all sickly or in any way close to death”. We can therefore look forward all the more to Hildegard Schmahl reading these poems.

The Buch is bilingual: The texts by Monika Wagner, Nora Sdun and Gottfried Keller were translated by Lucinda Rennison translated into English. Nidden-Grien translated the poems into English herself; Carina and Kenneth Kennear have reviewed this translation with great interest and made minor corrections to preserve the meaning. The picture section of the book contains, with a few exceptions, photos by the Hamburg photographer and artist Volker Renner.
