The three-term mayor of the city, Filippas Filios, will be a candidate for municipal councilor with the “Yiannena-New Era” faction.
Mayor Dimitris Papageorgiou welcomed him to the party and thanked him for joining the joint effort “Yoannina Front”.
“Filippas Filios needs no introduction. The long self-governing course speaks for itself. It is an honor for me personally and for our faction his participation in our ballot and his contribution to the election campaign. His help will be valuable the next day as well. In Ioannina – New Era we are joining forces to create a better future”, said Mr. Papageorgiou in his statement.
For his part, former Mayor Filippas Filios noted that he is collaborating with a large faction that already has a very important project to present in the city.
“The new era for Ioannina has begun. Over the last four years, a very important project has been developing in our Municipality. Great strides are being made. This course must not be stopped. Therefore, I am putting my own strength into it, wanting to contribute so that the city that I served for a number of years, from the position of Mayor and Municipal Councilor, continues on this path, that there is no turning back. I thank the Mayor Dimitris Papageorgiou and I am sure that our fight will be victorious”, said Mr. Filios in his statement.
