(RIGA, from our correspondent) After Filip Chlapík, the national team loses, at least temporarily, another striker: after the match with Kazakhstan, the first center Filip Chytil was added to the squad.
Chytil retired from the game in the first period. “He got a puck in the face. Then he didn’t feel very well,” explained coach Kari Jalonen immediately after the match.
“We have to be careful now,” she realizes. “Filip isn’t in the hospital, he’s in the cabin with us. We’ll see how he’s doing tomorrow. But as I said, he wasn’t feeling well.”
According to him, how long will Chytil’s absence be? “We’ll see. Now it is very difficult to estimate. He really doesn’t feel well,” Jalonen said.

Health problems ruled out defender David Jiříček before the tournament, Jiří Černoch took a blow to his knee during the WC, and Filip Chlapík was injured after a hard hit. “It’s not good news, of course. There are two matches played and we have two injured players…” laments the national team coach.
“We have to turn the fortunes back on our side. Like this…” Jalonen said and then made a turn in the mixing zone in front of the journalists. At least for a moment, he lightened the atmosphere. “Now the happiness is back. I hope it works like this.”
Tomorrow, the Czech Republic will face Latvia at home, and it is likely that Jalonen will have to improvise a little with the lineup. “We can no longer make any changes to the roster. That’s it. But we have fourteen strikers, so now everyone will get into the game. If Filip Chytil doesn’t play tomorrow, Ondřej Beránek will return to the lineup and we’ll have four complete lines again,” he adds.
