It seems that the Tokyo Olympics are really threatened with final cancellation.
According to the British newspaper “The Times”, the Japanese government has decided that the Tokyo Olympics should be canceled completely, with the city focusing on hosting the event again in 2032.
The newspaper also revealed through a source from the Japanese government – preferring not to be named, that the government has concluded that the Olympiad, which has already been postponed for a year before, is doomed to failure, and the goal now is to find a way to save face to announce the cancellation, which leaves the possibility to host Tokyo event again later.
The source told The Times: “Nobody wants to be the first to say it, but the consensus is that it is very difficult. Personally, I don’t think that will happen.”
The Tokyo Olympics was scheduled to be played in the summer of 2020, but the International Olympic Committee decided to postpone it for a year, and to hold the summer of 2021 due to the outbreak of the Corona virus in the world.
