Manchester United Technical Director Ole Gunnar Solshire has increased speculation that Jadon Sancho could be hired.
United reached the FA Cup golden box, with a fatal victory over Norwich City 2-1 after an extra-time extension.
When asked about “chances to sign a Dortmund player,” Solshire said, “I’m good at calculations, but I can’t answer that question. There are a lot of good players in other teams.”
He added in remarks to the Norwegian Viaplay station: “If we have a reasonable opportunity in the transfer market at the mathematical and material levels, we will try to take advantage of them, but we cannot make any promises.”
“I have good conversations with management all the time, and we have a plan we’ve been working on since I took over in March 2019,” he added.
In separate statements to the BBC, Solshire spoke more extensively on the match and his choices.
“I am delighted to be in the golden box and for what the players have brought, it is special for Harry Maguire to score the victory goal,” Solshire said on BBC.
He continued: “Many of the players who participated today did not play in the last game, and today they have had to participate for 90 or 120 minutes.”
He continued: “We have drawn lots of foreign games in all roles, so we did a good job.”
“We made a lot of changes, and yet we believe that those who participated 120 minutes can be ready for the Brighton match on Tuesday, and I do not make things easier for the players. We only had two days to prepare, so there was no high order.”
United triumphed 2-2 in the England Cup quarter-finals, reaching the 30th time of the semi-finals of the English competition.
Thanks to United’s victory for the deadly goal scored by Harry Maguire in the 118th minute to break the steadfastness of Canary Norwich City.
United first came through Nigerian Odeon Ijalo in the 51st minute with a touch from inside the penalty area.
Before Norwich tied in reverse 75 minutes into the game with Todd Cantwell with a surprise shot against United.
Dutchman Tim Kroll, Norwich City’s goalkeeper, stood up to a hail of chances for United, which came through Bruno Fernandez, Marcial, Paul Pogba and Mason Greenwood.
Norwich City played overtime with 10 players after defender Tim Klose left.
And when everyone waited for the penalty shootout, Maguire took advantage of a defensive flop from Norwich, before he hit a ball from inside the box into Kroll’s net.
Maguire’s deadly goal has written United reaching the tournament’s semi-finals for the 30th time more than any other team.
The other three remaining matches of the Cup quarter-finals will be played on Sunday, facing Sheffield United against Arsenal, then Leicester City against Chelsea, and in the end Manchester City will be a guest of Newcastle United.
