Smouha submitted an official request to the Football Association requesting to be considered a winner over Zamalek in the 16th round of the Egypt Cup.
Smouha’s request came because of the participation of Imam Ashour in the match, despite his suspension by the Disciplinary Committee, according to Smouha’s letter.
Smouha said in his statement: “Please activate the list and count Smouha Club as a winner in the match due to the participation of a suspended player.”
He continued, “If the Zamalek club was not notified of suspending the player before the match, despite the decision being taken in sufficient time, we formally protest to postpone the notification and allow the player to participate in the meeting and ask for it to be returned.”
He added, “As Smouha has the right to benefit from the player’s suspension, especially as he had an influential role in the match and scored a goal. If he had not scored, the match would have ended with Smouha’s victory.”
The statement concluded, “Smouha reserves his full rights to resort to all concerned parties, in order to preserve the club’s rights.”
Zamalek had defeated Smouha on Monday at the Ismailia Stadium, with two goals for a goal, after resorting to overtime.
While the Disciplinary Committee informed Zamalek that Imam Ashour would suspend one game after his clash with Al-Masry players.
