Sayed Abdel Hafeez, Al-Ahly football director, denied that Mohamed El-Shennawi was the team’s goalkeeper, threatening to be suspended from the final if he received a yellow card on Friday against Wydad in the second leg of the CAF Champions League semi-finals.
Abdul Hafeez said toFilGoal.com: It is not true that Al-Shennawi is threatened with suspension if he receives a warning in the return match.
He added, “Al-Shennawi received only one yellow card in the current season of the Champions League.”
The continental championship regulations stipulate that a player will be suspended for one match if he receives 3 yellow cards, and the yellow cards are canceled after the end of the group stage.
El-Shennawi and his companions are preparing to host Wydad on Friday at Cairo Stadium, and they have a good precedence after they won in Casablanca with two goals without a response.
If Al-Ahly qualifies for the final, it will face its traditional rivals Zamalek or Raja in Egypt.
In the first leg, Zamalek beat its host Raja, and the return match will take place next Saturday.
