The Moroccan newspaper Al-Mukhtab revealed the date of the African Super Match between Al-Ahly, the Champions League champion, and the Moroccan Confederation champion Borkan, Morocco.
According to the Moroccan newspaper, the match will be held on February 17th in the Qatari capital, Doha, after it could not be held this December.
The report added: “It is expected that CAF, his counterpart, the Qatari Federation, will be informed of the new date of the Super-African, as well as the two teams involved in the match.”
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the postponement of the African Super Cup between Al-Ahly and Nahdet Berkane of Morocco for the first half of next year 2021, to be held in Qatar earlier.
The final was supposed to be held in Egypt during the month of December without setting an official date for it.
But Nahdet Borkan objected to holding the match in Egypt after confirming that CAF had signed a contract with Qatar stipulating that the African Super Cup would be held there for three years.
An official source from the African Union – who refused to be named – said earlier to FilGoal.com: “The Super will continue in Qatar as it is and will not be played in Egypt as scheduled.”
He continued, “because the sponsoring company refused to transfer him to Egypt because of the contract between the Qatari federations and its African counterpart.”
He continued, “Therefore, the match between Al-Ahly and Nahdet Berkane will be played in Qatar at a date to be determined.”
Al-Ahly crowned the African Champions League after beating Zamalek with two goals to one.
While the Borkan renaissance was crowned by the Confederation, after defeating Pyramids with a goal without response.
