Hisham Hanafi, the former Al-Ahly player, revealed that some of the team’s players conspired to leave Al-Ahly, while he almost moved to Zamalek, but the matter was not completed.
“Some players conspired for my departure from Al-Ahly. I learned this after my departure that some people were paying money to the masses to insult me,” Hisham Hanafi told OnTime Sports channel.
“We were in training before the Zamalek match in the presence of 400 spectators in Mukhtar El Tch, and I was surprised by the fans cursing me for no reason. After that, I learned the truth of the matter, and they wanted to leave and therefore pay the fans to cursing me and clashing with them.”
“This is what actually happened after I clashed with the fans one time, and Manuel Jose was angry about it, and he expelled me from training.”

About his approach to joining Zamalek, Hisham Hanafi said “My contract had expired with Al-Ahly and they did not negotiate with me for renewal. I traveled to Turkey, but I could not afford the expatriation and decided to return despite Ahmed Hassan Ali’s insistence there to continue.”
“Hussam, Ibrahim Hassan and Hazem Imam persuaded me to join Zamalek because of my close relationship with them. I actually went to the club and trained with them for three days, but I did not feel myself there even though the offer was 3 times that of Al-Ahly.”
Hanafi followed, “I was not convinced that I was a player in Zamalek, and on the other hand, Mahmoud Saad also was not convinced of me because he is a great fan of Zamalek and he was not convinced of the presence of a Ahlan player on the team.”
“I spoke with Mahmoud Al-Khatib and told him the story. He advised me not to move to Zamalek so that my relationship with Al-Ahly could not end and I could take up positions in the club in the future.”
Hisham Hanafi added, “Al-Khatib asked me to speak with Tariq Salim again since he was the supervisor of the football sector, but he did not agree to my return to Al-Ahly, so I told Al-Khatib that I will retire and asked for a retirement match. He told me you are still young, why are you retiring?”
