Al-Ahly goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawy said that he received an offer from a club after his participation with Egypt in the 2018 World Cup, but he rejected it because of his presence in the ranks of the Red Castle.
Al-Shennawi told “On Time Sports” today, Thursday, saying: “After my participation in the World Cup, one of the clubs made a fabulous offer for me, and refused to be in Al-Ahly.”
He added, “I am aware that what I will say has been heard a lot by the public, but whoever grew up in Al-Ahly and lived his life in the club’s break, it is difficult to leave him.”

He stressed, “As Walid Suleiman said two days ago, I want to retire from the club. I used to dream of passing in front of the club now. I am a player in its ranks. Currently, I do not think of any Gulf offer if it comes to me.”
“The only thing that makes me think of leaving is the arrival of a European show, and I will leave through the club only,” he added.
Al-Shenawi added, stressing, “This is my speech and I will never retract it.”
On the possibility of postponing the African Champions League matches, he said: “The most important thing is the health of all Wydad players. We do not wish to injure anyone because of the competition.”
And he continued, “If the postponement were to be made, there is no problem, and if we were to play on the previously specified date, we are fully prepared and respect all decisions.”
As for Al-Ahly’s desire to win the African title, Al-Shenawi commented, “It is our goal, No. 1, and every tournament we want to win, and we are in top focus, and we will recover many players during the coming period.”
When asked whether there are problems inside Al-Ahly’s dressing room, he replied, “There are no and what happened is happening in all teams in the world, and we all respect each other and this is the most important thing within Al-Ahly and there are foundations that we cannot change and we all respect those foundations.”
