El Gouna dedicated its contract to Aswan by winning it again on Friday with Walter Bwalia’s goal in the fourth round of the Egyptian Premier League.
Coach Reda Shehata’s team achieved its second successive victory in the league, while Aswan lost again after falling against Al-Masry in the last round.
El-Gouna achieved its fifth victory over Aswan, a team that had never been able to outperform the first in 7 previous confrontations.
El-Gouna raised its score to 8 points to temporarily rise to the top of the league standings, two points away from Al-Ahly, Ceramica and Aswan, and the latter fell to fourth place.
Save and expel
The visitors started the match with strength, hoping for an early surprise in Aswan’s goal, and in the 11th minute, Mohamed Jaber saved the southern team from a detective goal after he kept the ball off his own goal line after a dangerous shot by Walter Bwalia of Zambia.
El Gouna continued to dominate the confrontation at Petrosport Stadium during the first 20 minutes.
After stopping to drink water in the 30th minute, Aswan rose up and attacked fiercely, but without a major threat to goalkeeper Islam Tariq’s goal.
Aswan was forced to complete the match without his coach Sami El Shishini, who received a red card in the 37th minute, directed by referee Tariq Magdy after a strong objection from the former defender of Zamalek to the consideration of a throw-in for El Gouna.
It is a dismissal that will deprive the Chechen from the Aswan deck next Tuesday against his Ismaili guest in the fifth round.
Early hit
The second half began tied between the two teams and Aswan almost grabbed the edge, but the post blocked Ahmed Oka’s shot in the 50th minute.
El Gouna broke through his opponent’s defense and Alain Kyambadi headed towards the goal to pass to his colleague Bwalia, who easily hit the net, announcing his team’s lead in the 56th minute.
Bwalya, 25, raised his score to 3 goals from the current season of the league, to be the only top scorer.
The loopholes in Aswan’s defense increased and El-Gouna almost tightened its grip on the match had it not been for Islam Rushdie, who struck the ball outside the goal, wasting a huge opportunity in the 64th minute, following a Bwalia pass.
The physical contact increased in the match, in which the referee showed the yellow card for three players in each club and two red cards, and became tense with Aswan’s attempts to tie.
And Mohamed Jaber tried to prevent the ball from reaching Boualia, so he touched it with his hand, so the referee calculated a free kick for El Gouna and announced the second yellow card for the Aswan defender, who left the stadium in the 92nd minute.
In the 94th minute, Aswan almost received the bullet of mercy, but the post responded with a superb shot from Kyambadi after a free kick.
Bwalya’s companions held out and grabbed a dear win that put them at the top of the tournament.
Aswan will host the Ismaili team on Tuesday in the fifth round, while El-Gouna will play on Wednesday against its guest Egypt Al-Maqsah.
