Draw procedures
For the first time, the tournament will witness the participation of 32 teams instead of 24, including 30 who have been identified and two teams will be determined through the Last Chance Championship for South and Central America for Nations and the Caribbean Union of Nations Championship.
The 32 teams will be distributed into eight groups of four teams, and the first three teams from all groups will qualify for the main round, which will include 24 teams, while the eight unqualified teams will move to the President’s Cup.
In the main round, the 24 teams will be distributed into four groups, each comprising six teams, and the champion and runner-up of each group will qualify for the quarter-finals, which will be held in a knockout system until the final round.
The 32 teams will be placed in four containers, each comprising eight teams of the following classification:
First classification: Denmark – Spain – Croatia – Norway – Slovenia – Germany – Portugal – Sweden
The second classification: Egypt – Argentina – Tunisia – Algeria – Qatar – Austria – Hungary – Belarus
Third classification: Iceland – Brazil – France – South Korea – Japan – Bahrain – Czech Republic – Uruguay
Fourth classification: Angola – Cape Verde – Democratic Republic of the Congo – Morocco – Poland – Russia – the national team that qualified for the Last Chance Championship in South America – qualified team from the Caribbean Union
A team will be drawn from each pot in ascending order and placed in one of the eight groups in the same order that the ranking gives them.
After the end of that stage, the Egyptian national team, who is ranked second, will have the right to choose their group as the host of the tournament.
After selecting the Egyptian national team for its group, the rest of the second classification will be withdrawn.
