Al-Ahly midfielder Allio Diang believes that whoever will score a first goal in his team’s match against Wydad in the CAF Champions League semi-finals, his chances of winning will be greater than his opponent.
Al-Ahly is scheduled to face Wydad in September in the semi-final, which will be held from one meeting, instead of two round-trip matches due to the outbreak of the Corona virus.
Diang held a lengthy interview with the financial “Bamada” website, in which he talked about his experience with Al-Ahly and what he did during the social exclusion period and the meeting with Wydad, and he also sent a message to Zamalek.
Face Wydad and how he joined Al-Ahly
Diang talked about Wydad, saying: “It will be a very difficult and exciting game until its last moments. For me, who will score first will have a greater chance of winning.”
“The Confederation’s decision to complete the tournament from one match we have no choice, but we will fight for the club.”
As for his tenure with Al-Ahly, Dieng spoke, “I was a Mouloudia player in Algeria and signed a two-year contract. My agent was talking to some European clubs, but the only team that accepted Mouloudia’s conditions was Al-Ahly.”
“So I stayed one year with the Algerian team and moved to Al-Ahly in July last year,” he added.
“Since I moved to the club, everything is going very well, especially with coach Rene Filer who was patient with me, we are like a family in Al-Ahly, the name of the club means family in the Arabic language.”
“Al-Ahly is the most popular and successful in Egypt. He won 88 local championships and 20 continental championships, including 8 Champions League tournaments, I am proud to play in this team.”
The return of the league and a message to Zamalek
On the return of the league, Diang said: “We have returned to training like all clubs in Egypt, and training sessions are held under great precautionary measures to preserve the health of the players.”
“We will do everything to win the title. We lead the league with 49 points, followed by the Arab contractors with 33 points, then Pyramids with 32 points, and 18 teams participate in the competition.”
On Zamalek’s unwillingness to complete the season, Diang commented, “I don’t know what will happen specifically to wait and see how the Football Association will react. I am just a footballer and I cannot comment on those events.”
“But the most important thing for me is to finish the season. We have waited too long and want to return to the stadium.”
He stressed, “My wish is that Zamalek will review its decision as soon as possible.”
Social spacing
Regarding the period of social separation and staying at home, Diang commented: “It was difficult. I am not used to staying at home all the time. I was bored watching TV day and night.”
“Fortunately, Feiler gave us training to do at home, and that made me feel comfortable and I was training twice in the morning and once in the evening,” he added.
“After that I was talking to my friends on social media and two families, but now we are back in training and wearing masks, and honestly it is exhausting me, but I have no choice,” he continued laughing.
He continued, “Al-Ahly during the spacing period stressed the need to follow the instructions of health institutions and all players stayed in their homes and all were trained individually, we had no other problems.”
The difference between the Egyptian and financial league
As for his opinion on the Egyptian league, the 22-year-old said: “The Egyptian league is a great competition that requires a lot of effort and it helps me to develop and has a great professionalism.”
“The competition here is well organized, the audience is great, and the leaders have the ambition to win.”
“What caught my eye on the Egyptian people is that every person is ready to sacrifice to develop their club.”
“Speaking of my performance, it was not an easy start, but then I found myself and Feiler helped me a lot, and now it is about me to fight and keep my position and I am working on it.”
As for the difference between the Egyptian and Egyptian league, he said: “The difference is divided into two parts: work and conditions. Here in Egypt, the league is professional and we do not have this in Mali.”
“Officials here make an effort to make their clubs successful and cooperate with the fans, and this is what we miss in Mali. Officials in Mali do not give themselves the good means to achieve ambition, and thus results cannot be achieved under these circumstances,” Diang said.
Financial selection
On the Mali team, Diang said: “My dream is simple to wear the shirt of the team as soon as possible, and I will continue to work to achieve that dream, but so far I have no contact with the team coach.”
“We have a good generation of young players who can achieve something for Mali, perhaps winning the African Nations Cup and qualifying for the World Cup.”
“In the 2016 Africa Cup of Nations, the national team struggled from the round of 16 with difficulty at the hands of Cote d’Ivoire, but it showed a beautiful image of a better tomorrow.”
He concluded, “After the African Nations Cup, everyone saw the time of the team’s distinguished until my colleagues in Al-Ahly praised the team, so I ask the financial association to keep the team and be patient with them.”
