Arsenal want to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara during the summer transfer window, according to the Daily Mail.
Thiago has been on Liverpool’s radar since the start of the summer, but it seems that the three parties haven’t reached a final agreement yet.
The Daily Mail newspaper reported that Arsenal had joined clubs wanting to join Thiago, whom Bayern intends to get rid of this summer.
The report indicated that Arsenal wanted to conclude the deal at a lower price, after the sale of the middle duo Mohamed Elnani and Lucas Torreira.
Al-Nani played last season on loan to Besiktas, while Torreira was linked to a transfer to an Italian club.
Thiago, 29, has a contract with Bayern next summer, so it could be the last chance to make money from it.
Bayern Munich coach Hans Flick understands Thiago’s desire to leave after many reports linked Alcantara to a move to Liverpool during the summer transfer period.
“As a person and as an athlete, I understand Thiago’s desire to take on new challenges,” Flick told Bild newspaper the week before.
He added, “Thiago played for Barcelona, then he was with Bayern for 7 years, and wanted to move to a new team.”
And he continued, “I think that his next destination must be towards the English Premier League.”
And English reports said that Reds coach Juergen Klopp had contacted Thiago for some time in preparation for his annexation.
For his part, Bayern CEO Karl Hans Rummenigge said the club was ready to give up Thiago if a suitable offer arrived.
