The Copa Sudamericana is the second club tournament in South America, and is the equivalent of the European League or Confederation Cup.

Since the start of the tournament in 2002, no two teams from the same country have met in the final match, so the final of the 2020 edition – which takes place in January 2021 due to the pandemic – is a historic event that occurs for the first time.

It is also the eighth Argentinian final in the history of South American competitions in general.

He scored the goals for Divensa e Justicia: Francisco Pizzini in the 11th minute, and Brian Romero in the 20, 23 and 44 minutes.

Robin Farfan and Lautaro Palacios scored the visitors’ goals in minutes 8 and 62.

Romero became the third player to score a “hat-trick” in the first half of the semi-finals of the continental championships in South America throughout history.

The first is King Pele, who did it with Santos against Botafogo in the 1963 Copa America semi-finals.

The second is Balinia, with Cruzeiro, who scored his hat-trick against Kolokolo in the 1996 Supercopa contest, Joao Havelange.

Romero, the 29-year-old Argentine, topped the tournament’s scorer list with 9 goals, scored for Independiente and Divenca e Justicia.

Argentina’s historic striker, Hernan Crespo, is coaching Devensa e Justicia, while former Deportivo Alaves coach Luis Zupeldia leads Lanos.

Divensa e Justicia has never won a title in its history, and the best continental achievement it has previously achieved is reaching the quarter-finals of Copa Sudamericana 2018.

On the other hand, Lanos won the title in 2013 by defeating Brazil’s Ponte Britta at the time.

The Copa Sudamericana winner will play in Recoba Sudamericana (equivalent to the Super Cup) against the Copa Libertadores champion, who will be Brazilian Santos or his compatriot Palmeiras.
