FilGoal | News | Al-Attar for Joule: The rules for registering foreigners for the upcoming season have not been decided yet

Walid Al-Attar, Executive Director of the Egyptian Football Association, reviewed the terms of registration of foreigners stipulated in the league regulation and stressed the possibility of being subject to review and discussion with clubs.

Al-Attar stated to FilGoal.comThere are two rules regarding the registration of foreign players, and the clubs were addressed to them before the opening of the current season’s registration.

He explained, “The first is Continued work to register the Palestinian player As a local player as it has been known since ancient times, and also the same rule continues to be treated Syrian player as a local By virtue of the extension of contracts of some clubs from last season. “

He continued: “And also the application of the protocol with the North African Union as a player who holds the nationality of any member country a local player, but it was advised that the clubs that This exception will be for one year onlyThen, things will return to normal with the coming season. Which is agreed by all clubs“.

As for the second rule, it is to reduce the number of foreign players in general starting from next season, The number 3 becomes 4 instead of 4 in the list of each club, The clubs also agreed to this“.

He wondered: “We do not know why the matter was raised with all this confusion and controversy, even though the current season is stalled due to the Corona virus, and things are clear before the start of the competition.”

He added, “The registration rules for the new season have not been issued or diminished until now, because their discussion and study usually takes place after the end of the season. At that time, we will hold a meeting inside the Football Association with Mahmoud Saad, the technical manager of the federation, to resolve the matter.”

He concluded: “We will consider whether it is technically better to start the practical application of the rules, or we can consider postponing their application taking into account the views of clubs and take them into account.”

Gamal Mohamed Ali, vice-chairman of the five-year committee overseeing the Egyptian Football Association, had opened the door to reducing the number of foreigners in the competition, to give more opportunity to Egyptian players.

And Gamal Mohamed Ali said last Saturday: “The current list of players’ registration stipulates that the current season 2019/2020 is the last in which North African players will be treated as Egyptians.”

He continued: “Usually, amendments are made to the regulations in the month of June, before the start of the new season. This would have taken place if the league existed normally, but in the current circumstances it is impossible.”

And on the possibility of reducing professionals: “Before approving any amendment, a full study must be made of all the contracting players in the league and the extent of the damage and benefit. We monitor some of the items in the committees’ regulations to present them to the next board of directors.

Gamal Mohamed Ali admired: “The number of foreigners is currently about 50% on the field, and this is unfair for young Egyptian players and may cause deficiencies in some positions.”
