French coach Didier Gomez, the Sudanese technical director, Al-Merrikh, annulled his contract, FilGoal.com knows.
The Sudanese Al-Merrikh is in the first group, which includes Al-Ahly, Simba, the Tanzanian, and the Congolese Vita Club.
Khaled Suleiman, the agent of the French coach Didier Gomez, told FilGoal.com: “We recently ended the agreement with Al-Merreikh Club to terminate the contract.”
“The Frenchman apologized for completing his mission and paying the penalty clause for the Sudanese club,” he added.
“Gomez is preparing to sign with another club in the coming days,” he said.
Al-Ahly will start the campaign to defend its African title against Al-Merrikh, Sudan, on February 16, after the confrontation was postponed due to the participation in the Club World Cup.
Al-Merrikh tied on Friday with Totti with a goal for each team in the sixth round of the Sudanese League.
Al-Merrikh, the leader of the standings table this season, achieved 4 wins, two draws, and has 14 points.
Gomez is not the first technical manager to leave before the start of the group stage, as Sven Vandenbroek, Simba’s Tanzanian coach, had apologized for the team’s coaching mission hours before the group stage draw. (See the details)
