Al-Ahly announced the dismissal of Turki Al-Sheikh, head of the General Authority of Entertainment in Saudi Arabia, and the honorary president of the Red Fort, a cash award for the team players after qualifying for the quarter-finals of the African Champions League.
Al-Ahly issued a statement that reads as follows:
“The chancellor, Turki Al-Sheikh, Chairman of the General Authority of Entertainment in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the honorary president of the club, were keen to communicate with Al-Ahly officials.”
“Mahmoud Al-Khatib, Chairman of the Board of Directors, congratulated the football team on its qualification to the Champions League quarter-finals. The congratulations of Al-Sheikh came despite the health conditions he was undergoing, and he underwent more than one minute surgery in America during the last period.”
“The club’s honorary president affirmed his appreciation of the great effort made by the players and the technical staff in previous matches. In order to continue to support the team, he decided to give the technical staff and players a reward, which he had promised before the last confrontation against the Sudanese Crescent, and wished them success in the next rounds. For the tournament, and the happiness of Al-Ahly fans to win the continental title, and on his part, Captain Mahmoud Al-Khatib expressed the club’s appreciation and management to support the chancellor Turki Al-Sheikh, and his constant interest in the football team’s march despite his health troubles, and wished him complete recovery and return to his homeland and loved ones.
Al-Ahly tied with Al-Hilal of Sudan in the last round of the Champions League groups to qualify for the quarter-finals.
The draw for the Champions League’s 8th round will be held tomorrow evening, Wednesday.
Al-Ahly will play in the quarter-finals against one of the upcoming teams, Esperance Tunisian, Congolese Mazembe or South African Sun Downs.
