Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno explained that he does not follow social media due to the bullying and harassment he was subjected to, which reached his request to commit suicide.
“Once I played a bad match, and then someone said to me on social media: I do it like ank,” Lino said in an interview with the British “Sky Sports”.
Robert Enke was the goalkeeper of the Germany national team and previously played for Hanover, Benfica, Borussia Monchengladbach and Barcelona; But he decided to commit suicide in 2009.
“I was subjected to a lot (of bullying) while I was here (with Arsenal) or in Germany, but this stayed in my head for a while. This is crazy,” Lino continued.
He added, “Since I read these words, I have realized the presence of many idiots on social media, and this is why I am not interested in them even if good things are written about me, I do not need them and they will not make me better, and they waste time.”
And he continued, “There are many fake accounts sitting behind the computer screen to make your life bad by bullying, spreading racism and insulting your family.”
He concluded, “I do not care about it, it may affect your life, so what is the use of it?”
Lino has been playing with Arsenal since 2018, after moving to the English team from Bayer Leverkusen.
Lino participated with Arsenal in 97 games, kept clean sheets in 29 games, and won the Federation Cup and the Charity Shield.
Leno has only played 8 matches for Germany.
