The Premier League announced today, Tuesday, that there have been 18 positive cases of Coronavirus in the ranks of the teams present in the first part of the league.
This came after examining 1,479 players and members of the technical apparatus from December 21-27.
And 18 injuries is the highest number in the English Premier League in one round since the start of the players’ examination system and technical equipment after the outbreak of the Corona virus.
To clarify more, this number is more than double the number announced in the previous round, which amounted to only seven injured people, after the examination that was conducted from December 14-30.
The outbreak of the Corona virus caused the postponement of Newcastle’s match against Aston Villa and yesterday, Monday, between Everton and Manchester City, due to the presence of seven injured in the latter’s ranks.
Therefore, the English Premier League Clubs Association decided to update its previous decision to conduct two weekly checks for clubs in the fourth division only to conduct two examinations per week instead of a single examination for all clubs equally.
This is in addition to the fact that the FA will bear the cost of the tests that are carried out for clubs outside Premier League before they play any match in the FA Cup.
What do we mean by the levels in which clubs are located?
The English government divided the country into levels from first to fourth, in preparation for the audience’s attendance of matches.
The clubs in the first section are allowed to attend the matches by four thousand, compared to two thousand fans for the second level.
As for the clubs of the third and fourth sections, the audience is forbidden to attend the matches.
The clubs that were subjected to two examinations per week before the decision was made to conduct the examinations for all teams, regardless of level, are present at the fourth level, i.e. the English capital, London.
