Filelist will not be closed in the end, the biggest torrent site in Romania will be taken over by another team of admins.

The news was announced late Tuesday by “EboLLa,” Filelist’s system administrator:
“We have been overwhelmed by your wishes and messages! You know that over the years I have always said about the community that it has a hard word to say. Your words always mattered and we were never careless about them. Your voice was heard even now. I am happy to announce that the site will not be shutting down! From this moment, the donations are also started, so everything is back to normal”.
He also explained that one of the site’s founders, “God”, has returned and will take over the technical side again to “keep the site alive”.
“He’s reliable, loyal, and things will definitely go well from that point of view. However, a person was also needed to do the other part of the job. Oana will take care of everything related to the staff, paying the servers and all the internal things that a SysOp does. So he will get promoted to the SysOp class. She is more than capable and competent to hold the reins and make sure everything runs smoothly internally. Congratulations!”, Ebola said.
He assured that the two will continue the work necessary to keep Filelist alive.
“That being said, this announcement will also be my last announcement. I, EboLLa, am permanently withdrawing from the community. I want to thank you personally for all the private messages and wishes you have sent me. There were a lot of them and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for them!”, he added.
Filelist reverses the decision to close just two days after the announcement
The decision regarding the closure of Filelist was also announced on Sunday evening by EboLLa, who noted that “this is where the activity of our tracker ends”.
“It is important that you understand and accept this decision. Although it was a difficult one, it was taken after careful evaluation and for good reasons. Unfortunately, I no longer have the necessary time to take care of the site”, he explained.
He added that “a site like this requires quite a lot of commitment and my priorities in everyday life have changed in recent years. Time is the most precious resource for all of us and I have invested enough time here” and that he has no one to pass on his website.
“The responsibility is great, we have a huge number of users who also have sensitive data that cannot be left in anyone’s hands. Big abuses can be made and whoever has absolute power can decide anything regarding everything related to the community, so obviously a reliable, capable person is needed who also has very advanced technical knowledge to ensure the security of users and proper functioning of the site”, he justified.
Filelist was to shut down early next year, according to the announcement made two days ago.
Filelist has only been shut down once in its 16-year history
Although it has experienced several days-long crashes, Romania’s oldest and best-known torrent site has been shut down only once in its 16-year history: for a few days in 2020, when the High Court Prosecutors of Cassation and Justice obtained its seizure.
Filelist.ro could no longer be accessed at the beginning of May of that year, and those who still entered Filelist.ro were greeted by the message: “This domain name is seized in accordance with the provisions of art. 249 of the Code of Criminal Procedure . This domain name is the subject of a criminal case.”
It was the only time in the history of over a decade of operation of the torrent site when the Romanian authorities tried to take a measure against it, although its activities were well-known.
However, Filelist reopened 3 days later on a new domain, Filelist.io, instead of Filelist.ro.
