A traffic jam arose at a gas station in Eindhoven last night with a few hundred motorists who hoped to take advantage of a remarkably low fuel price. At the pump at the Flight Forum, a liter of petrol cost at least 1.449 euros for at least an hour and the price for diesel was 1.109 euros.
“I don’t know how long it will take, but I’m glad I got there in time,” one customer told Broadcasting Brabant before the price was again adjusted to 1.88 euros for a liter of Euro 95 around 9.30 pm.
It is not known whether it was a technical malfunction or a price stunt. It was clear, however, that motorists appreciated the 59 cent price difference with the nearest competitor. The waiting time at the gas station near the airport continued to increase, until customers had to wait more than fifteen minutes for their turn.
