File: “Monster” Sepesi. The Bartošová series culminates in a well-known tragedy. Is it enough?

Iveta’s three-part miniseries follows the beginning of Iveta Bartošová’s career. One of the most famous Czechoslovak singers was played by actress Anna Fialová, her partner Petr Sepeši, Vojtěch Vodochodský. “It’s a melodrama about a very naive woman who tries not to be naive on her own,” concludes film critic Kamil Fila.

According to Fila, Petr Sepeši, who Iveta accidentally loves, is the “monster” of the story. “Over time, she realizes that they are just playing the couple in love,” says the critic, according to whom the series takes the form of the then fashion magazine Burda.

It is the purest melodrama I have ever seen in a Czech production, “adds Fila. According to him, Anna Fialová is an excellent representative of this genre and Vojtěch Vodochodský as Petr Sepeši evokes the right aversion.

“My peers and I experienced Iveta at a stage when she was gripped by the boulevard and parasitic men. This series may offer some answers as to why her fate ended up so tragically,” he said at the launch of the series platform Voyo, Vodochodsky.

Iveta Bartošová has been one of the stars of Czech popular music since the late 1980s, has become a golden celebration three times and has performed in musicals. Towards the end of her life, she struggled with alcohol addiction, drugs, and disorganized privacy.
