Fikayo Tomori Injured Knee, Milan Crisis Defender

Milan

AC Milan got bad news behind their qualification to the quarterfinals Italian Cup. Fikayo Tomori may be out for a few weeks with a knee injury.

Tomori started when Milan faced Genoa in the round of 16, Friday (14/1/2022) early morning WIB. Unfortunately, Tomori only played 24 minutes due to a knee injury and was replaced by Alessandro Florenzi.

Luckily, Milan, who had left behind 0-1 in the first half, finally qualified after winning 3-1 in extra time. After the match, Tomori turned out to have a knee ligament injury.

The injury forced Tomori to undergo surgery. Luckily Tomori’s knee problem is not serious and only needs to rest for 3-4 weeks. However, the absence of Tomori still hit Milan.

This is because the England defender has just returned from a period of isolation after testing positive for COVID-19.

“He has excruciating pain in his knee, so he can’t continue anymore. Fik is a very important player for us and I hope his injury is not serious,” Milan coach Stefano Pioli said in Football Italia.

With the absence of Tomori, Pioli will be more dizzy because of the storm of injuries in the center back sector. Because, Milan has lost Simon Kjaer until the end of the season and Alessio Romagnoli is still recovering from injury. As a result, Milan only relied on Matteo Gabbia as a pure central defender.

Fortunately Davide Calabria is back after being positive for the corona virus and can play this weekend against Spezia. Temporary, Fikayo Tomori the possibility of missing also in the next two games against rivals, Juventus and Inter Milan.

Tomori this season has appeared 23 times in all competitions with a score of one goal. AC Milan is currently in second place Serie A standings with 48 points from 21 matches, one point away from Inter Milan at the top.
