figures and vaccination campaign – Telemundo San Diego (20)

SAN DIEGO – San Diego County officials gave an update on the COVID situation and vaccination campaign on Wednesday, June 2.

“We are very close to our goal of vaccinating 75% of San Diego County residents,” said Nora Vargas, San Diego County Supervisor, during the week update of June 2.

According to the latest county figures, 3.5 million doses of vaccines have been administered. 53% of Latinos have been vaccinated countywide, while in the south of the county, the figure exceeds 70%.

According to the Kaiser Family Foundation one of the main causes for the rejection of the injection is misinformation.

Vargas also added that this week San Diego County qualifies to enter the color yellow under the California Reopening plan (expected to conclude on June 15).

According to Nathan Fletcher, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, if the county stays below the 1.7 case rate it will turn yellow.

Vargas also announced that more than 6,400 workers in American maquiladoras in Tijuana have been vaccinated as part of the binational pilot program to combat the pandemic.

“The goal is 10,000 vaccines before the end of the program next Monday,” added Vargas.

They crossed the border to be immunized on American soil.

280,346 cases of coronavirus have been reported since the pandemic began in San Diego.

1.5 million Sandieguinos have completed their vaccination program.
