On Thursday, in the short program, Vasiljevs 73.25 points – 33.50 points for technical elements and 40.75 points for program components. This gave him fifth place after the first day of the competition.
On Friday, Daugavpils had an excellent selection program, in which he corrected his personal record with 159.83 points and was by far the best. He received 76.63 points for technical elements and 83.20 points for program components.
In total, he had 233.08 points and first place.
The second place with 231.65 points was won by the Italian Gabriele Franjipani, but the third with 218.07 points was the Swedish figure skater Nikolai Majorov. 17 figure skaters took part in the men’s competition.
This January, at the European Championships in Graz, Vasilyev won sixth place.
