The Sidr plant, scientifically known as “Jojoba”, is a genus of shrubs and small trees that have been used for decades in herbal medicine and folk medicine in various cultures. The plant, which has long been associated with healing in Islamic culture, is also now included in the formulations of dietary supplements, energy foods and nutritional ingredients recommended for maintaining physical fitness and overall health of the organism.
1. Resists the possibility of cancer. A 2015 report in the Pharmacognosy Review examined the potential anticancer activities of the Sidr fruit, and the study authors concluded that the bioactive compounds present in the fruit, such as triterpene acids and polysaccharides, have the potential to fight cancer and fight various types of cancer cells.
2. Treat anxiety. Among the benefits of Sidr is its great effectiveness in treating anxiety, and according to a preliminary study that tested mice, the study authors noted that the compounds extracted from the plant can have calming effects.
3. Improves the health of diabetic patients. Certain types of Sidr can help control diabetes and prevent the condition from worsening. For example, a study in mice found that Sidr from the Mauritian family can help manage diabetes by regulating blood sugar levels.
4. Rich in antioxidants. The fruits of the Sidr plant are rich in many antioxidant compounds, mainly flavonoids, polysaccharides and triterpene acids. They also contain high levels of vitamin C, which acts as an antioxidant and free radical. Free radical damage is believed to be a major contributing factor to many chronic conditions, including type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and some cancers.
5. It can improve sleep and brain function. Sidr is widely used in alternative medicine to improve sleep quality and brain function, especially in people with aging and mental retardation.
