28. September 2024

On the 4th matchday of the DAIKIN Handball Bundesliga, TBV Lemgo Lippe had an important away game against HSV Hamburg on the program. After a good start to the season, coach Florian Kehrmann’s team was highly motivated to score the next points away in the Hamburg sports hall. Despite the difficult task, they wanted to win the game against Hamburg, who were strong at home. In the end, however, the Lippers had to admit defeat with a deserved score of 30:26 (15:11).

In this encounter, coach Florian Kehrmann was able to rely on Jarnes Faust and Leos Petrovsky, who had previously been missing due to injury.

TBV Lemgo Lippe started the game against HSV Hamburg motivated, but the hosts set an exclamation mark right from the start. Constantin Möstl made a strong save in the first attack, but Hamburg scored their first goal in the 3rd minute to make it 1-0. Lemgo had a hard time, especially against HSV’s compact defense. It wasn’t until the 6th minute that Lukas Hutecek scored the first goal to make it 1-1. Hamburg continued to dominate the game and was able to pull away with two goals. Although Jan Brosch equalized again to make it 3-3 (11th), the Hamburg team kept finding solutions and making life difficult for the guests. By the 16th minute they had extended their lead to 8:4, while Lemgo couldn’t find a suitable answer offensively. Hamburg continued to set the tone in the final phase of the first half and pulled away to 14:8 (26th). But in the last few minutes Lemgo managed to stabilize and reduce the deficit.
The half-time break was 15:11, meaning the TBV kept all its chances open for the second half.

After the break, TBV Lemgo Lippe showed great fighting spirit and did not allow themselves to be discouraged despite the deficit. The guests worked steadily and reduced the score to 17:14 in the 38th minute. Tim Suton finally even took the opportunity to reduce the deficit to just two goals (41st), which made it seem at this stage as if the TBV could still turn things around. But HSV reacted promptly: within a few minutes, the hosts increased their lead again to five goals (47th, 24:19). Lemgo had increasing difficulties stopping Hamburg’s strong attack. Offensively, the guests faltered and remained without a field goal for almost ten minutes until Hendrik Wagner found the saving grace in the 50th minute and reduced the score to 26:22.

Despite further chances, Lemgo was no longer able to catch up, while Hamburg cleverly managed their lead until the end. In the end there was a 30:26 win for HSV Hamburg and TBV Lemgo Lippe had to return home without any points. The best goalscorer on the Lemgo side was Samuel Zehnder with nine goals.

The next game is scheduled for next Wednesday, October 2nd. At 7 p.m. the TBV will fight against the Eulen Ludwigshafen for a place in the next round of the DHB Cup. Afterwards, TBV Lemgo Lippe will welcome you on October 6th. at 4:30 p.m. the SC DHfK Leipzig in the local Phoenix Contact Arena.

The voice of Florian Kehrmann’s game: “Hamburg deserved to win this evening. They dominated the game with their defense from the start and we couldn’t really get into the attacking game. So we quickly found ourselves five or six goals behind. In the second half we fought our way to two goals, but there was always that little bit missing to turn the game around. We make a few too many technical mistakes or fail to defend the last pass. Overall, we simply throw away too many balls and that’s why Hamburg deserved to win.”
