The police had to intervene on Saturday night in case of disturbances in the catering area of Helmond. Several fights broke out there.
It first went wrong at the Borrelbar on the Steenweg in Helmond. There was a group of about a hundred people standing outside when the pan caught fire. Several fights broke out.
Sedition
The police came to Steenweg with several units and dog handlers. The units then formed a line across the width of the road to bring the situation under control. They were then verbally abused and pelted with glassware. Two people have been arrested for sedition.
Eventually the groups left and peace returned to Steenweg.
Back in line
An hour later, several fights broke out again. This happened when an event at the Kromme Steenweg in the city had ended. Here too, several units with dog handlers had to intervene ‘in line’ and the street was swept clean.
“We do not rule out the possibility that more arrests will follow later,” the police said on Sunday morning.
