About a week ago, the federal and state governments agreed on stricter corona measures. They are now implementing four more federal states – and in some cases are stricter than intended in the nationwide resolutions.
After the first federal states had already imposed stricter corona requirements since Christmas, other states are now putting more stringent measures into force. This applies to Baden-Württemberg, Lower Saxony, Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
In Baden-Württemberg, stricter contact restrictions apply from today – also for those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered. A maximum of ten people can come together. 50 vaccinated people are allowed to come together outdoors. Children and young people are excluded. The state government has lowered the age limit a little: The exceptions to the contact restrictions only apply up to the age of 13 years.
If people who have not been vaccinated also take part in a meeting, only members of one household may come together with a maximum of two other people.
Curfew for restaurateurs
In addition, a curfew in the catering industry comes into force in Baden-Württemberg: It is from 10.30 p.m. to 5.00 a.m. On New Year’s Eve, curfew does not begin until 1:00 a.m. An FFP2 mask must now be worn indoors where a mask is compulsory.
The state is also tightening the criteria for the 2G-plus regulation: Exceptions now only apply to people who did not complete their full vaccination more than three months ago and those who have recovered who were infected with the virus no more than three months ago. So far, the deadline was six months. The tightened measures are to remain in force until January 24th.
Stricter contact restrictions
In Brandenburg, too, citizens should comply with stricter contact restrictions from today: a maximum of ten people are allowed to come together both indoors and outdoors, provided they are all vaccinated or have recovered. If this is not the case, the following also applies here: one household plus a maximum of two guests. The same regulations now also come into force in Lower Saxony.
MV closes numerous cultural institutions
Like Hamburg, for example, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is one of the federal states that had previously imposed the stricter contact restrictions. They have been in effect since Christmas Eve. Numerous facilities across the country are now being closed, including cinemas, theaters, museums, the indoor areas of zoos and swimming pools. So far, the closings have only affected facilities in regions with particularly high incidence values. Sports events with the public and closed events in restaurants are prohibited.
The next federal states will follow on Tuesday, which will put stricter requirements into force. At their meeting on December 21, the federal and state governments agreed that the tightened measures should be implemented “by December 28 at the latest”.
