The purpose of the whole thing was to fight illegal migration, cross-border drug, weapon and property crime, according to the police.

Officials from the Federal Police Inspectorates in Offenburg and Weil am Rhein worked with the French gendarmerie for several hours.

“Two helicopters from the federal police squadron from Oberschleißheim were used to transport mobile control units quickly and dynamically between the control points in the districts of Ortenaukreis and Rastatt and in the district of Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald as part of this special type of veiled manhunt,” says a press release.

Checkpoints on the French side in the Bas-Rhin and Haut-Rhin departments were also flown to.

Result of the Franco-German action: “In addition to various manhunt hits, three violations of the Residence Act and violations of the Narcotics and Weapons Act were punished at the joint checkpoints on the German side. In one case, customs are now investigating on suspicion of money laundering.”

Meanwhile, on the French side, a man is facing charges for being behind the wheel under the influence of intoxicants.
