Fight against HIV/AIDS: USAID donates medical equipment to stakeholders in Bobo-Dioulasso

The adult day hospital, the Association Espoir et Vie and Rev+, which work in the prevention and care of HIV / AIDS patients, received, on Tuesday, June 06, 2023, a donation from USAID for the reinforcement of their technical platform. The donation was officially handed over during a ceremony at the Bobo-Dioulasso adult day hospital.

This donation from USAID (United States Agency for International Development) is part of the EAWA project. It is a cooperation agreement between USAID and FHI 360 for the response to HIV/AIDS in West Africa (Burkina Faso, Togo and Benin) for a performance period of 2017–2026. Composed of beds, mattresses, wheelchairs, medical consumables for the screening and care of patients… this donation, received on June 06, 2023 by the Permanent Secretariat of the National Council for the Fight against AIDS and STIs (SP /CNLS) and transmitted to the beneficiary structures, amounts to more than 600 million CFA francs.

Satisfaction of authorities and beneficiaries

Seydou Ouattara, Permanent Secretary of the National Council for the Fight against AIDS and STIs, says he is happy and satisfied with this donation because, according to him, it will help to better fight against HIV/AIDS and STIs. “We are happy today to receive what will make it possible to increase the various technical platforms for better care of patients. We are really satisfied and happy with this gesture, and we hope that USAID will continue to support us through its various projects so that we can achieve our objectives in the fight against HIV/AIDS and STIs,” will he imply.

To the Director General of the Souro Sanou University Hospital Center, Dr Seydou Barro, to sound the same trumpet by affirming that the Hospital of the Day, a branch of the Souro Sanou Hospital in charge of infectious diseases and beneficiary of this donation, will put at the service of all the patients he has. His thanks also go to USAID. Martine Somda, president of the Rev+ Association, after issuing words of thanks, made a commitment on behalf of all the beneficiaries to make the equipment received available to patients and also to take care of it.

Donald Yanogo, representative of the USAID country representative in Burkina Faso, before proceeding to the official presentation of the donation, returned to the historic partnership between the United States and Burkina Faso. “The United States and Burkina Faso share a long-standing commitment to supporting the health system in Burkina Faso. The EAWA project, which enabled Burkina Faso to obtain financing in the field of the fight against HIV/AIDS, is an example.
